There are so many well-known CNC tube bender manufacturers offering new and expensive high-end products
that have skipped the enormous task of creating an actual CNC control system that can
be supported indefinitely and instead, are using general-purpose motion controllers, one per axis.
This means they are unwittingly putting you at the mercy of the likes of component parts manufacturers. These companies have their own competition and will EOL (End-Of-Life) a product whenever it suits them.
All too often this will mean CNC tube bending machines are discarded for the simple reason of no support for old, often proprietary control systems hardware and software.
Mechanical elements such as bearings, bushings, linkages, gears, ball-screws, and hydraulics are easily repaired or replaced
But the electronics are not.
Language notwithstanding, most CNC tube bender manufacturers are powerless when it comes to supporting their older products because the core elements have been obsoleted by their suppliers.
Your machine manufacturer will have moved on with their latest offerings to other proprietary architecture that is not backwards compatible. Shrugging their shoulders when you need support leaving you high and dry with
NO service, NO support, and NO backup.
Your only options are:
- Scrap your machine and invest in a new machine unwittingly you will be
forced back to square one starting the E-O-L Hamster wheel cycle all over again. - Let your machine manufacturer re-control your machine. The problem is they will use parts soon to be E-O-L (end-of-life) again. Starting you on the hamster wheel all over again.
- Try and find obsolete parts, maybe by cannibalising other old machines for their parts, not a good idea.
